Family Medical Centers operates six facilities from Ironton to Proctorville, offering a wide variety of services including primary care, pediatrics, dentistry, and behavioral health. The medical professionals who serve the organization come from many backgrounds, but all believe in the mission of treating patients like family.

“We address things better than a hospital I think,” said Dr. Jill Hopkins, pediatrician. “We know our patients, we know the families. I spend more time with them than I do at my own home, my patients are my family and I really, truly want the very best for my patients.”

To drive home the importance of family, Family Medical Centers recently unveiled its new tagline, “Just like family, we’ll take care of you.” Hopkins, and every other medical professional she works with take that to heart every day. Many of the organization’s providers are from the Tri-State, and those who aren’t have made it their home.

Nurse practitioner Jennifer Gibson grew up in Cincinnati, only moving to the Tri-State in 2005. While she’s only been in the area for 10 years, she said it didn’t take long for it to become home – and a lot of that has to do with her role helping to keep those in her community healthy.

“I just love taking care of these people,” Gibson said. “They’re the most friendly people, and they have become like family to me. It’s really rewarding to just see how they are doing, how their families are doing.”

Gibson said one of the most rewarding aspects of her job is treating a patient, and them having such a positive experience that they recommend her to a member of their family. She said it really means a lot to have those she lives and works beside place such faith in her, and Family Medical Centers.
